October 15-21, 2023 is hereby proclaimed as Conflict Resolution Week in the State of Minnesota! The week is centered around Conflict Resolution Day (the third Thursday in October), which is a global obersance dedicated to promotion peaceful conflict resolution, encouraging collaboration, and fostering understanding.
From the proclimation:
Mediation is taught and practiced in Minnesota’s colleges, universities, and law schools, not only as a way of resolving individual disputes, but also as a means toward a more peaceful society; and
Community-based conflict resolution programs throughout Minnesota have joined together under the banner of Community Mediation Minnesota to aid individuals and groups throughout the state in resolving neighborhood and community conflicts; and
Families use mediation and other dispute resolution processes to successfully resolve issues related to the dissolution of marriage, elder law, and parenting issues; and Administrative agencies in Minnesota utilize conflict resolution processes to effectively and efficiently resolve disputes both internally and externally; and The Minnesota State Bar Association recognizes the importance of dispute resolution alternatives through its Alternative Dispute Resolution Section; and The Minnesota Legislature created the Office of Collaborative and Dispute Resolution to handle
the dispute resolution needs of the State.
